I have always loved birds. They appear in many fairy tales and stories, but the simple shapes of birds are really what interests me. This series is an exploration into the gesture and simplicity of the bird world. Birds are always in context and I tried to convey a mood of variety and space and texture. Using "chine colle" and other additional printing techniques as well as pastel and pencil help to create this ever changing, interesting world in which birds live.

The "birds" are matted and framed in black wood.
