Steel Garden Objects/ Screens, Flowers & Animals
I had been searching for a way to try out a new media....a chance meeting with an inspiring local landscape designer coupled with a metal smith husband led me to try my hand at cutting steel with a plasma cutter. I have a new appreciation to the saying "strong as steel"! It has been a real challenge to work with a material so hard, rigid and dirty after working with paint, paper and canvas....hard work...lots of fun. After looking at what is on the market in the way of outdoor steel garden sculptures, I realized that there is not much in the way or hand cut work...most everything now is done by machine. All of my steel works are my own original designs, cut and painted by hand.
